ACT brings together people with different experiences, roles, and perspectives around a shared commitment to greater accessibility. These guidelines support a welcoming, constructive, and useful community.
Participate with respect
- Center disabled people and lived experience.
- Critique barriers, practices, policies, systems, and ideas—not people.
- Make room for different disabilities, communication styles, experiences, and points of view.
- Disagreement is welcome; harassment, personal attacks, discrimination, threats, and spam are not.
Protect privacy and consent
- Do not share another person’s private information, story, image, or words without permission.
- Remember that names, email addresses, and messages may be visible to other Google Group members.
- Avoid forwarding group conversations outside the group without the participants’ consent.
Communicate accessibly and accurately
- Use clear, respectful language and accessible media whenever possible.
- Identify sources and distinguish facts from opinions.
- Correct material errors when they are identified.
- Link to qualified resources rather than offer individual legal, medical, or technical advice.
Speak for yourself
Participation in ACT does not imply endorsement by—or representation of—any employer, organization, board, committee, or public agency. Participants speak for themselves unless expressly authorized otherwise. Do not present a personal view as ACT consensus.
Community accountability
ACT may redirect conversations, remove inappropriate content, or limit participation when necessary to protect the community and uphold these guidelines.
Questions or concerns about participation may be submitted through Contact ACT.
