Dignity at Community Events

Bringing fully accessible mobile restrooms to local events

For some disabled people, attending a festival, parade, concert, fair, or civic celebration depends on having access to restroom and personal-care facilities that conventional portable restrooms cannot provide.

ACT has heard directly from a disabled community member seeking assistance with this barrier. Their request underscores a broader need: community events cannot be fully inclusive when people must leave early—or cannot attend at all—because appropriate facilities are unavailable.

A potential solution

ACT has identified Momentum Refresh as a provider we would like to introduce to Santa Barbara-area event organizers and community partners.

Momentum Refresh provides a mobile restroom and universal changing space designed to serve people with a wide range of disabilities and personal-care needs. Its features include:

  • A powered, height-adjustable adult changing table
  • A ceiling-track transfer lift
  • An adjustable sink and supportive fixtures
  • Space for caregivers and personal attendants
  • A wheelchair-accessible vehicle lift
  • Climate control and trained attendants
  • Cleaning and sanitizing between uses

These features can provide access that conventional portable restrooms cannot.

What ACT hopes to do

ACT would like to help bring Momentum Refresh to local community events by:

  • Introducing the service to event organizers
  • Identifying an appropriate first event or demonstration
  • Connecting interested nonprofits and community partners
  • Developing grant and sponsorship opportunities
  • Sharing what is learned so other events can replicate efforts

We’re looking for

  • Event organizers interested in hosting Momentum Refresh
  • Nonprofit or fiscal partners
  • Businesses, foundations, and community sponsors
  • Grant-writing and sponsorship expertise

Stage: Seeking partners

Help bring dignified access to community events
